How to set up a VPS?

This guide will show you how to get a Virtual Private Server and install everything you need.

What is a VPS?

A VPS is a “Virtual Private Server”, which is basically a remote computer that you can access to and use just like if it was your own desktop computer, except that is is usually miles away from you and runs 24/7.

Where can I get a VPS?

There are hundreds of hosting providers offering VPS out there but we advise TurnKey Internet as that’s what we use for our own VPS so we can better support you if needed. Moreover, their VPS plans start at only $4.99 per month!

For info, we uses multiple T40 VPS at $14.99 per month with 4 CPUs and 4 Go of RAM which is great for running chrome, trade4me, Metatrader, etc at the same time.

Also, make to choose windows as the operating system.

I got a VPS, now what?

Connect to your VPS using “Remote Desktop Connection” also called RDC. RDC is preinstalled on all windows computers. Just type “Remote Desktop Connection” in the windows search bar and you should see it immediately. Enter your VPS IP, then click “Show Options” and enter your Username, which usually is “Administrator”. Check “Allow me to save my credentials” then click Connect. Your VPS Desktop should display after a few seconds.

I’m connected to my VPS, how to set up trade4me?

Now install Google Chrome and the Trade4me Chrome Extension just like you would do on your computer. Log into the chrome extension and just let it run. You can now close the Remote Desktop Connection window, your VPS and the chrome extension will keep running. Just connect again from time to time to check on it and make sure it is still running smoothly. Notice that the chrome extension gets updated automatically at each new version, which reset its settings. You then need to start it again. There is approximately one update per month and we usually send you an email before 😉
